Join the Group

We welcome enquiries from talented and motivated researchers and students interested in joining or collaborating with the Fantuzzi Group. Our research spans chemical bonding and electronic structure, astrochemistry and radiation chemistry, and functional molecular design, with opportunities for theoretical, computational and interdisciplinary projects involving experimental collaborators around the world.

There are currently no directly funded vacancies in the group. However, we are happy to discuss applications for competitive external fellowships, scholarships and other funding schemes where there is a strong fit with our research. We are also open to in-kind co-supervision and collaborative supervision arrangements at all career stages, including researchers and students primarily based at partner institutions.

Postdoctoral Researchers

We welcome enquiries from researchers interested in developing a postdoctoral fellowship application with the group. Potential projects can be developed across our main research areas and may involve collaborations within our international network.

Particularly relevant funding routes include the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships, Royal Society Newton International Fellowships, Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Research Fellowships and Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships. Other national and international schemes may also be suitable depending on the applicant's career stage, nationality and research area.

We are also happy to discuss in-kind co-supervision or scientific mentorship of postdoctoral researchers based at other institutions, where there is a clear collaborative research programme and mutual scientific benefit.

PhD Researchers

We welcome enquiries from prospective PhD researchers from the UK and internationally with backgrounds in chemistry, physics, materials science, molecular modelling or related disciplines.

Projects are developed together with candidates according to their research interests and may cover any of the group's three main research themes. Interdisciplinary projects and joint, co-supervised and in-kind supervisory arrangements with partner institutions are particularly welcome.

Funded PhD studentships are advertised when available. Candidates with external scholarships, government funding or other sources of financial support are also encouraged to contact us. Current University of Kent funding opportunities can be found through the University's postgraduate scholarship and funding pages.

MSc and MScR Researchers

We welcome enquiries from prospective MSc and MScR researchers interested in theoretical and computational chemistry projects. Research projects can be developed across the group's areas of expertise and, where appropriate, in collaboration with experimental or international partners.

We are also open to joint and in-kind co-supervision of MSc and MScR projects hosted at other institutions, particularly where the project benefits from complementary expertise or access to our international research network.

Funding opportunities vary between academic years, and prospective students should consult the University of Kent postgraduate funding and scholarship information for current schemes.

BSc Research and Summer Internships

Undergraduate students interested in gaining research experience are welcome to enquire about BSc research projects and summer research internships.

Projects may involve computational chemistry, molecular modelling, scientific programming, data analysis or interdisciplinary work connected to experimental collaborations. Summer internships may be supported through university, external or international mobility schemes, where available.

We are also happy to explore in-kind co-supervision of undergraduate research projects and summer placements at partner institutions, particularly where this enables students to contribute to an established collaborative project or gain experience across complementary research environments.

Interested in Joining Us?

Before contacting Felipe, please include a CV, a short description of your research interests, the research area or potential project you would like to explore, and any funding scheme or source of support you are considering. If relevant, please also indicate your expected degree-completion date and preferred starting period.

For enquiries concerning joint or in-kind supervision, please briefly describe your home institution, current supervisor or research group, and how collaboration with the Fantuzzi Group could complement the proposed project.

We particularly welcome applicants interested in developing ambitious interdisciplinary projects and contributing to an open, collaborative and internationally connected research environment.
